The Equal Opportunity Commission (EEOC) online portal to submit 2021 EE0-1 reports is now open. The filing deadline is May 17, 2022. It is wise for company representatives (typically a member of the HR team) to start the process now to allow ample opportunity to complete the process in a timely fashion.
The EEO-1 report is an annual workforce data report that all private sector employers with 100 or more employees, and federal contractors with 50 or more employees (meeting certain criteria) must submit. EEO-1 reporting is not required for State and local governments, public primary and secondary school systems, institutions of higher education, American Indian or Alaska Native tribes, and tax-exempt private membership clubs. The data is required under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and includes demographic workforce information including race/ethnicity, location, sex and federally defined job categories.
The EEOC recently made improvements to the filing process for employers through a more streamlined and user-friendly system including additional self-service options and a new Filer Support Team Message Center.
